Katilus Knives

Welcome to KatilusKnives.com. I appreciate the opportunity to share my knives and knife making with you. As a Senior Engineer and 6 Sigma Blackbelt with a Fortune 500 Automotive company, quality and attention to detail are part of my DNA. I am committed to producing clean, highly functional yet visually pleasing knives with the strength and durability that will help it outlive its owner.

I strive to ensure that the materials used will best suit the intended tasks for each style knife. As an avid bagpiper, I am all too familiar with Sgian Dubhs rusting over the course of a day when tucked in piper hose during long festivals (worn in your sock for people not familiar with the terminology). Unless requested, all the Sgian Dubhs will be made from a high grade stainless steel. Dirks perform well in stainless, but high carbon steel or Damascus blade can work well, too. As with Dirks, my Hunters, skinners, campers and Bowie steel varies, but the intended use for each will lend itself better for certain steels.

Why Go Custom?

As you review the pictures of available Knives and recently sold knives on this site, you will see I often vary designs, unless requested otherwise. I do this is for several reasons--First, when a person invests in a custom knife, they want to know that their next door neighbor isn't going to pull out their knife's "twin"...if this is what they wanted, they would buy a Gerber (no offense Gerber). Second, varying the designs keep the creative process interesting, so keep checking for design updates. If you do find that you are drawn to a knife that has been sold, let me know and I can work to replicate it or modify the design to meet your custom specs.
